Books Make Great Gifts
Sunday, December 9, 2018
Each year, as the holidays approach, parents tackle the dilemma of what to purchase for their children. It is so important to always include at least one book on the gift list!
Reading to your children should begin when they are infants. Studies have shown that early reading helps children to speak and read early themselves. Establishing a library for your child filled with all types of books on a wide range of subjects will increase their imagination and quest for learning.
As your children get older, books can increase the opportunity for you to bond and begin a dialogue regarding important issues, such as acceptable behavior.
"Don't Be That KID! At Home" and "Don't Be That KID! At School" are about a little goat who misbehaves but ultimately learns his lesson. Each scene provides parents and teachers with an opportunity to discuss character building values, like honesty, consideration, responsibility, respect, kindness and self-reflection. The books stress the importance of including others, taking responsibility for your actions and learning to be positive. The "Don't Be That KID! At School Resource Guide" is filled with meaningful activities for children in grades Pre-K - 5 for teachers and parents to use to reinforce proper behavior and character education principles. The book and resource guide make a wonderful gift for your child's teacher!
Wishing everyone a happy holiday and a 2019 filled with good health and happiness. And remember... Don't Be That KID!
