I recently learned about a wonderful golf program for youth called First Tee which is taught at golf courses, schools and youth centers. In particular, since 2004, First Tee has trained educators at more than 9,000 elementary schools on a curriculum that introduces students to golf and core values during physical education classses.

First Tee DRIVE (Develops Rewarding, Inspiring Values for Everyone) is a program they launched at Youth Centers' after school programs.

I love that every golf lesson instills their 9 Core Values: honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy and judgment. Their website states, "We don't just build better golfers. We build character."

Does all of this sound familiar? It should! "Don't Be That KID! At School" and "Don't Be That KID! At Home" scenes depict their 9 Core Values and many others.

I plan on contacting First Tee to discuss how I can assist them. It is so encouraging to know that a sports program places equal emphasis on learning a game and being a better person.
