Maya Angelou has said, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."
I am a strong believer in teaching the skill of self-reflection to children. "How did my day go?" "What worked and how can I build upon it?" "What didn't work as well and how can I improve upon it?" "Have I behaved in a way that showed kindness and respect for others?"
When I conduct Behavior Assemblies in elementary schools, I distribute the following to grade 5 students who will be leaving the school for middle school. After completion, students volunteer to read their responses and lead a discussion.
