"The Four Agreements: A Personal Guide to Personal Freedom" is a self-help book written by Don Miguel Ruiz. Ruiz was raised in Mexico and is a descendant of the Toltec civilization that was known for its knowledge of science, arts, spirituality and healing. His book is a code of conduct based on their teachings that are supposed to improve a person's life.

Ruiz believes that a person's life is determined by agreements they have made with themselves, others, God, and society as a whole:

1. Be Impeccable With Your Word: Be honest with what you say to others; do not gossip about others.

2. Don't Take Anything Personally: You are not responsible for the actions of others, you are responsible for yourself; stand firm in your own convictions without worrying about what others might say.

3. Don't Make Assumptions: Learn to communicate effectively so others clearly understand what you are saying; never hesitate to ask questions to clarify.

4. Always Do Your Best: Always give 100% because whatever the outcome, you know you've done your best.

"The Four Agreements" is a book written for adults but the concepts need to be instilled in children at an early age.

Reading and discussing the scenes in the "Don't Be That KID!" Series and doing the activities in the "Don't Be That KID! At School Resource Guide" will assist parents, grandparents and educators to introduce and reinforce honesty, taking responsibility for your own actions, effective communication, and doing your best.

Learning all four skills/values outlined in the "Four Agreements" will help children create a happy and successful life.
